Drupal 8 is out in the market and it has become the topic of discussion for everyone in the website development world. Drupal 8 Core provides support for Drupal-to-Drupal migrations and a host of other features like a flexible, plugin-based architecture for migrating data into a site. There is no direct upgrade path for Drupal 6 or 7 to 8, so in such scenario it becomes a mandate that one wanting to migrate should be familiar with the migration system in Drupal, as it will allow migrating content from previous versions to the new Drupal 8.
We at KNOWARTH understand the difficulties faced by many developers and hence we have come with a step-by-step guide on how to migrate old Drupal (Drupal 6, Drupal 7) to new Drupal 8.
Below are the steps to perform migration from old Drupal 7 site to Drupal 8 site.
Step 1: Download and enable the migrate_upgrade module
Step 2: Navigate to the /upgrade path on your website
Step 3: Enter DB host, DB name, DB username, DB password and old site url to fetch files from
Step 4: This will show you a list of available and missing upgrade paths.
Step 5:Click on the “Perform Upgrade” button.
Step 6 : After finishing upgradation, check it out site and content
